WHAT IS REP SOCCER? “Rep” is short for Representative. Rep or “competitive” teams are the Club’s best players of a given age group, and represent Spartacus in League, Cup and tournament competition against the best of other clubs.
SAME GAME… DIFFERENT WORLDS
The game’s the same, but environments for recreational and rep soccer are very different. Rep is for committed players and parents. Coaching programs run year ’round, outdoor and indoor, and Rep teams play in outdoor and indoor leagues. Rep teams practice more often, and players are expected to maintain good learning habits and high standards of attendance and punctuality. Rep soccer is “serious fun”, and competitive intensity increases as players grow older. For a 9-year-old player and his parents, the future is too far off to contemplate. Yet, nine years later, he could be playing for Ontario in the Canada Games, or receiving offers of college scholarships, or perhaps joining the many Canadians playing professionally at home and overseas. Whatever his dreams and achievements, a young man who spends his youth in soccer will approach adulthood with many valuable lessons learned of self and team discipline, fair play, friendship, and striving to be the best he can be.
